Heather and Tom chose to have their wedding at Low Wood Bay in the Lake District. It’s a pretty good start to the day when your first photograph is all the groomsmen diving into the lake. It sets the tone for the rest of the day and you think, hmmm speeches are going to be fun and the dancing will be epic! I also know Heather’s mum and dad well as they are a local family and we often bump into each other in our favourite coffee shop. Ian, Heather’s dad is a creative and I think he chose me as Heather and Tom’s wedding photographer. In fact I think he might have chosen the entire wedding; he certainly did all the beautiful stationery and table plan. Turns out I knew the best man too, I bought some sheep from him last year. It’s the first time my weddings and sheep have collided.
I have lots of favourites from this beautiful day including when Heather’s dad came into the room to see her in her wedding dress and the one of Tom’s mum looking at him full of pride whilst he waits for Heather to walk down the aisle. I wondered about all the thoughts and feelings that ran through her mind at that point. Memories of him as a baby and growing up, pride and nostalgia all mixed together. Anyway, it was a brilliant day. So much love and laughter and nobody wimping out of a boat ride on Lake Windermere in the pouring rain. “That’s mist love, not rain!”
