Sam and Susie’s Tipi Wedding in the Peak District was in an incredible setting with stunning views of the hillside. Susie had said all along that she wanted everything outside and she’d like not to have to wear shoes at all. The weather, however, had other ideas for their wedding day. It was on a mission in fact! It was one of those days where it absolutely chucked it down all morning so that we were all wading through mud, schlepping up and down between Sam and Susie’s house down the field to the tipis. Jo Foley from Fletcher and Foley was an absolute star and had so many flower arrangements to transport between the locations. Pushing a wheelbarrow through the mud for what must have seemed like miles.
I do quite like a bit of weather at a wedding though. I like it when guests arrive huddled under brollies with their wellies on their feet and their posh shoes in their hands. Rain brings out the colours so beautifully and you get some drama in the skies. I know it’s everyone’s dream to have a lovely sunny, dry day but it’s not the end of the world if that’s not the case. Anyway, Susie was adamant it was going ahead outside so Andrea from Fabulous Together wedding planning made it happen as she always does, with a smile and determination. In between trying to figure out how they were going to keep everybody dry she pins on buttonholes, helps to dress children, organises florists, caterers and magicians! I think she might actually be Wonder Woman. We did get a bit wet and windswept but the awning kept the worst of it out during the ceremony and Susie and Sam had their dream Tipi wedding outside looking at those beautiful hills that is now the view from their new house. They were rewarded with a double rainbow and clear skies later on for all the effort and perseverance.
