Loretta & Ciaron’s wedding at Stanley House

This was a wonderful start to mad May – Loretta & Ciaron had an amazing day at Stanley House. The sun shone, there were millions of bridesmaids causing chaos, Loretta looked beautiful and Ciaron made us laugh all day, particularly when he delivered his wonderful speech. There are so many pictures below (73 in fact – sorry!) but they are worth it I promise! I’m already looking forward to Loretta’s sister’s wedding next August now

Sophie and James at Thornton Manor

Sophie and James had their wonderful wedding at Thornton Manor in April and had a lovely sunny day! I’ve known Sophie for a few years now as she was the owner of Daisy Hill Cakes in Thornton Hough so we’ve worked together on a few weddings. It was a fantastic day, really relaxed and great fun. Ling from Dragonfly Couture created the beautiful stationery, Anne from Earth in Heswall did an amazing job with a million roses and of course Sophie made her own cakes. Happy times in Dubai you two – I’ll miss you

Kathy & Cris at St Anselm Hall and Hilltop, Prestbury

Kathy and Cris had a gorgeous April wedding complete with sunshine and lambs. The ceremony was at St Anselm Hall, Manchester University and the reception was at a lovely venue (a new one for me) called Hilltop in Prestbury. It really was a wonderful venue, very relaxing and homely. Kathy made us all laugh during the ceremony and dropped Cris’s wedding ring on the floor – the vicar had to go and look for it Here are some favourite photographs…

PS Clare and Martin at Hilltop did such a wonderful job of looking after everyone that I recommended them to Jesh De Rox for his ‘Life as an Artform’ Workshop in a couple of weeks time so I’ll have the pleasure of seeing them again.

Lisa & Oliver’s wedding at Nutters in Rochdale

Oliver and Lisa had their wedding at Nutters Restaurant in Rochdale. They had planned to have a summer wedding but brought it forward because Lisa is expecting and she wanted to be able to wear her dress. Oliver and Lisa wrote their own vows which was very emotional and beautiful and had everybody in tears. This was another relaxed, fun filled day with lots of children and a very funny magician. As you might expect from Andrew Nutter, the food was amazing – eight courses of gorgeousness and the most amazing cake made from cheese I have ever seen. John from my favourite band Frisco Crabbe entertained everyone in the evening.

Cat & Saif’s wedding at Broadoaks Country House, Troutbeck

Cat & Saif had a wonderful, intimate wedding at Broadoaks Country House in February. The snow had finally disappeared and the sun came out. Rachael and Ben had a gorgeous civil ceremony at one of my favourite locations, Linthwaite House in Cumbria. It was a great day and a joy to spend it with such lovely people. I also got to see my wonderful friend Richard Wilkinson (also a wedding photographer) who is Ben’s brother and best man. Thanks Richard for recommending me to Ben and Rachael

“The Apprentice Wedding Photographer” photo shoot for PhotoPlus Magazine

I had a brilliant day up in the lakes last week doing a shoot for PhotoPlus Magazine. The feature is “The Apprentice Wedding Photographer” and involved coaching a budding wedding photographer through a wedding day. Obviously we had to mock the day up so I invited James and Janine to be my couple. (I photographed their real wedding last August.) I also asked Jodie from Jodie Make-up to assist because she’s a hugely talented make-up artist and a lovely person to have around on the day. My apprentice was Dr Howard Gould, a physics teacher at Repton School in Derby. Once I’d persuaded him that the photographs I take are more about love than lenses we had a fantastic day We were also joined by Pete from the magazine, Jesse – their own photographer who was photographing the ‘action’ and Kerry and Rachel from Contemporary Photographic Training (CPT hosted the day at their studio in Staveley.) We started the day off with a pre-wedding shoot (mostly because I wanted James and Janine to have some photographs of themselves which weren’t based on a fake wedding) and because I wanted to show Howard how much fun we have doing this. It poured down all morning so we found a barn nearby where they had some cover but I still had natural light to work with. James and Janine changed into their wedding clothes at lunchtime and we went up to church and pretended to have a wedding. It didn’t matter that it was fake because of the chemistry between them – it was really important to me that we had a real couple rather than models. The feature will be in the May edition of the magazine, available from 5th May. For the photographers out there I’ll be running Getting Started with Weddings at CPT on May 11th and October 12th. Anyway I’ve twittered on enough so here are a few of my favourite pictures.

Jamie & Gaynor’s Christmas wedding at Adlington Hall, Macclesfield

Jamie & Gaynor had a wonderful Christmas wedding at Adlington Hall last Sunday. It was a perfect December day – frosty and bright. They gave out baby Christmas trees for their guests to plant instead of wedding favours which I loved

Jacqui & Matt’s autumn wedding at Thornton Manor

Matt and Jacqui had a fantastic wedding in October. They had a mass at Our Lady of Pity on the Wirral followed by a reception at the magnificent Thornton Manor. This wedding was full to the brim of fun and laughs and we had such a great day with Matt, Jacqui and their gorgeous girls, Imogen and Rachel. Many of my favourite people were involved in this wedding - Daisy Hill Cakes made the wedding cake and Dragonfly Couture Stationery created the stationery and table plan. My lovely husband filmed their day (True Story Wedding Films) so as usual I’ve added a link below to a short clip from the film. And finally here are a few my favourite photographs!

Emma & Paul’s Wedding at Rudding Park, Harrogate

Paul and Emma had a gorgeous wedding at St John Fisher’s Church in Leeds followed by a reception at Rudding Park in Harrogate. Both families are Irish so there was some Irish dancing during the evening and lots and lots of Irish humour Will filmed the day so I’ve included a short clip below.
